Wormhole Expidition: Fail and Win
So CL3 had an op planned to go in a wormhole last Saturday.
Sadly enough I lost my internet Thursday and let a mate know to the corp that we would post pone the WH for a week.
Of course fate would have it that friday evening my internet came back!
After this debacle though, we only had 3 people going in the WH. I don’t mind too much as a small group would function a bit better and we would get more isk out of it.
After searching 4 hours for a suiteable WH I was ready to give up, just then I picked up a C3 which appeared empty. A scout went in and reported that there was no activity. Well Thank God! a C3 is a bit higher then I planned but why not eh?
Setting up was fairly uneventfull one T2 BC tried to get the drop, but was met with 2 Drake’s and a Caracal. No kills, on either side, apart from some drones.
I must say that the setup took waaay longer then I originally thought. Warping in with badgers (20K m³) took a while and even the orca (120k m³ without orehold) could bring half of the stuff along.
I should have checked all the stuff first, but hey I can’t think of everything right?
After 5hours in the wormhole I decided that enough was enough, the tower was up, the guns, corporate hangar and the ship maintanance bay was up and so was the refining array. We could start and do our stuff the next day.
5 hours later I woke up… I couldn’t sleep I had to go back in and see what I could do.
Luckily for me, one of my mates had the same problem. So we wen’t out, cleared a ladar site and started gas harvesting and mining.
Later in the day I went out and fitted a WH drake, with 2 drakes we decided to clear one of the easier sites (solar cell) and to our suprise it was actually pretty hard. My 200 regen 45K omni tank Drake couldn’t hold 2 battleships at bay. Mostly , I think, cause I’m still shooting with T1 missiles/launchers. So training switched to get those T2 shooters, so I can bring in a fully fit T2 Drake. After about an hour we finally cleared the site and… Salvaging too low … crap yupz another thing to train.
After that I decided that just gas harvesting would be ok for now, and logged of a bit later.
Monday we came back online, and some russian corp was in the WH… with 2 towers. It seems that our scouting failed to bring out what was in the outmost planet.
Oops, the russians killed my mate (not podded) and decided to give us warning, just mine rocks and gas or die…. aaah fuck.
Not an hour later my mate got killed again, and sadly enough also got podded.
After a good while of talking, we decided that enough is enough. If we can’t do all the sites (radar my primarly interest) and we can’t kill things fast enough it ain’t worth staying in the WH. So on Thuesday we got everything out 20 jumps from where we started.
300K m³ to move 20 jumps… yeah not really. I’ll go to Amarr (8 jumps out) and sell most of the fuel and pos modules before going back to Nonni, with what is left of my ships.
The WH was fun, we learned a lot, but we didn’t make too much money. At most It’ll be something like 50-60million, while that’s still ok for 2-3 hours of game time. It’s lower then what I expected, although with no kill sites etc this could really be the reason for it.
I won’t try this again anytime soon, as my GF is going to study abroad for a year, I want to spend all the time I have left with her, with her and the WH needs constant looking after when you go in with a small group.
It was fun… and let’s try again in september, hopefully in an empty WH system though…
Fly safe o7
